Services are operated by KTEL. Much more information is available from their website, where I obtained these details. However, they don't say when summer starts! (And they don't say how you get back from Preveli - I suggest booking a taxi in advance at the rank in Plakias)

I mailed KTEL to ask when summer services start - and received the following reply:

Dear John,
There is not an exact date for every Region of Greece when the Summer and Winter tables start. You may say that the Summer Schedules start by the end of May and the winter Schedules by mid September

So I guess you should ring the station managers office if you will be travelling around in May or September.
